Personality: By nature, Ra is a loner, preferring the wide open sky and plentiful fields to the company of humans or other Gods. He can be quite vengeful when he feels wronged, but prefers the dirty work to be done by someone else (usually humans).
To a large degree, Ra doesn't actually like humans, and has never been able to get the bitter taste out of his mouth when they thought him weak. As much as he doesn't like them though, he doesn't want to see them destroyed, realizing how useful they can be while still alive.
As much as he doesn't like humans though, he does like to know what they are up to, and when they should be punished.
History: As he gained power through his worshippers, Ra replaced Atum as the father, the grandfather, and the great-grandfather of the Deities of the Ennead and became creator of the world. Among his believers, all forms of life were created by him, by him speaking their secret name, though humans were created by his tears.
Every day he traveled the sky in a Barque, and at night, he died, and sailed through the underworld, and at the next dawn, he would be born again.
In the beginning of the world, Ra lived on earth as the king of all things and as he grew older, he grew tired of his duties. Because of this, humans began to question his abilities, and he sent his eye (deified by the Goddess Hathor/Sekhmet) to kill the humans that doubted him. Many humans were killed but before Hathor could kill all of mankind, Ra stopped her by dying beer red and pouring it into a field in her path. She drank so much that she became drunk on it and returned to Ra, where he changed her nature. It was then that he left the Earth for the Sky.
Every day he continued to travel, until one day, Isis made a snake and threw it in his path. The snake bit him, and poisoned him, and try as the other gods might, they could not heal him until Ra finally told Isis his own secret name. In turn, she healed him.
Rarely liking company, Ra was almost content when he ended up in America, comforted by the lack of other Gods and people, though it wasn't to last for long.
